Officials announced Three New Tournaments for 2011

Three new tournaments in Bahrain, Malaysia and Sicily are to feature on the 2010-11 European Tour schedule, officials announced on Sunday.

The Golf Champions event in Bahrain from Jan. 27-30 will extend the 'Gulf Swing', which already includes the Abu Dhabi Championship, Qatar Masters and Dubai Desert Classic, to four successive weeks at the start of the year.

The Sicilian Open is to take place from March 17-20 and the Johor Open will be held in Malaysia from Nov. 17-20.

The tour is also planning to alter its schedule from 2012 so that the season is held in the same calendar year, and not spread over two years as it is now.

With the return of the Omega Mission Hills World Cup (in November), the Race to Dubai will conclude in December for the first time in 2011, enabling us to introduce a schedule based on the calendar year," chief operating officer Keith Waters said in a statement.

That has been our stated intention for some time now. We anticipate therefore that the 2012 season will commence in January that year and conclude in late November

The 2010-11 season launches with four successive tournaments in South Africa, starting with the Alfred Dunhill Championship in Malelane on Dec. 9.
