Dromoland Castle Golf and Country Club has undergone an amazing transformation over the past three years, thanks to an investment of €5 million by our owners. The project, undertaken by the late world renowned, Irish golfing legend, J.B. Carr and one of golf's great golf course architects, Ron Kirby, has produced dramatic results. Dromoland Castle 5 star golf resort in Ireland is one of Europe's finest country estates and now has a golf course to equal the splendour of the setting. Visitors to the course have described it eloquently as "the Augusta of Ireland".

The Dromoland Castle Golf and Country Club golf course on the Dromoland Estate is a captivating test of golf surrounded by the wonders of the Irish Countryside. It has been described as an experience never to be forgotten, presenting the pure challenge of golf to both professional and amateur alike. In 2003 the golf course was carefully redesigned and up-dated by renowned architects Ron
Kirby and J.B. Carr. The design team adapted much of the traditional vision and integrity of the original John L. Wiggington layout.

The additions to Dromoland's Golf course include new tee boxes and sand-based greens designed to the highest USGA standards using the latest A4 creeping bent grass, which delivers a firm, fast putting surface. The course plays to 6,824 yards for gentlemen, and 5,242 yards for ladies. The 18 enchanting holes sweep delightfully through 410 acres of shady woodland, open rolling pasture, feral lakes, streams and the ever present magnificence of the 16th Century baronial Castle presiding over the estate. Yet for all the regal splendour and unassuming nature, it is a course for the 21st Century. Even if your golf is not at its sparkling best, you will remember the soft pleasing curves and the endless variety of the course.

The new layout at Dromoland's Golf course has blended the old with the new in seamless fashion. The 7th hole overlooking the lake and the Castle has been retained with magnificent views from the tee box. A new green is flanked by a water feature and shamrock bunker, creating a memorable par three.

The 11th hole at Dromoland Golf club is a double dogleg commencing with a tee shot requiring a carry of 200 yards over marsh and ending with a tight approach shot to a green bounded by wood, lake and heavy fescue. The 18th is a par five off a tee box set in marshland with a carry of over 190 yards, inviting risk and bravado. The second shot is a long scenic journey to the castle. A larg Marca Carpa guards the approach to the green and demands perfection if the ultimate prize is to be achieved.
